If you're as excited for the fall season as I am, you might be thinking about what new fall styles you need to stock up on at your favorite stores before the cold weather hits. With the change of every season, there are always those select styles you see everyone wearing, and these are the fall 2016 shoe trends to shop for now.
Whether you like flats or heels for your fall wardrobe either for work and or the weekends, there's a new style out there for everyone's taste. With a twist on classics like suede, leather, and snakeskin, your fall shoe collection will get an upgrade after shopping for these fashion-forward styles.
Don't worry about not seeing a '90s fashion influence trickle back into fall styles just how they did for summer — loafers and mules are back in full force. And if you're worried about spending too much on a trendy pair, sometimes it's a good idea to invest in one high-quality pair since it's the one part of your wardrobe that's likely to get the most wear and tear.
With summer almost over, these new styles might help you get in the mood for colder weather and darker hues.
1. The Mule
It's not flats or loafers, but this trendy style called a "mule" is the next best slip-on shoe for fall. This Corso Como pair comes in three different colors: printed black, printed leather, and champagne leather.
2. The Velvet Platform
Velvet just has a fall feel to it, and even though these shoes are open toe, you can still wear them into the fall season.
3. The Loafer
Combine two of what will be two of your favorite fall trends: suede and loafers with this shoe that can be both dressed up and down.
4. The Patterned Ankle Boot
This may be one of this fall's more bolder trends to try, but if you need a new patterned bootie, snakeskin is totally making a comeback.
5. The Platform Sneaker

Sneakers are still trending, but add some height for fall with the '90s-inspired trend.
6. The Over The Knee Boot
Cop the Kardashian sisters' style with some lace-up boots.
7. The Suede Sneaker
Channel some of your favorite summer sneaker styles into a fall version with this suede pair from Kenneth Cole.
