His Kid Needs To See 'All That' & Then Some

by Christine DiStasio

Kenan Thompson shouldn't be so worried about what to do with his new baby when it arrives. The actor announced his baby news about a month ago (he's having a girl). But it came up again during Thompson's appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday night with his former SNL colleague. Thompson cracked a few jokes with Meyers about being "terrified" because he has no idea what to do with babies, but we think he'll be just fine. Especially since he's got an arsenal of films/television shows to occupy that kid for years.

Meyers also acknowledged that Thompson is the longest-standing cast member on SNL (hopefully all of those late nights, will help out with his new type of late nights) and he's been doing sketch comedy for longer than anyone he knows. Thompson's first role came on one of the most popular kids series of the '90s — Nickelodeon's sketch comedy series All That — in 1994. From there, the actor went on to star in a handful of films and television shows before landing at SNL in 2003.

So sure, having a new baby is scary — especially if it's your first. But there's one thing that Thompson will never have to worry about — hiding his work from his daughter. In fact, he should absolutely make her watch his television series and films as early as possible. Starting with:

Heavyweights

Sure, he's done the voice of Greedy Smurf for the Smurfs films so he could start with those. (They are kids films, after all.) But how great is Heavyweights?

All That

Easily every Nickelodeon kid's favorite show of all time and it was Thompson's career launchpad. "Everyday French With Pierre Escargot" is easily one of the most fan-favorite sketches on the show but that could be said of most of Thompson sketches on the series. And you know his daughter's going to be a funny kid so she'll need to see it all — well, at least all of the season's her dad is in.

Kenan & Kel

I mean, duh. Hopefully she's allowed to have orange soda. She'll also learn how breaking the fourth wall is sometimes the best.

Goodburger

It's just a total must-see. And it'll still be a must-see regardless of her age.

Saturday Night Live

Thompson's done a lot of great skits in the 11 years he's been on SNL — and since he and Seth Meyers are BFFs and his daughter will probably meet him someday. She should see them on "Weekend Update".

Barbershop 2: Back in Business

Just because it's fun — but she'll have to be a little older for this one.
