She served as the 2015 VMAs host, rocking massive dreadlocks and wearing a bejeweled bodysuit that left little, if anything, to the imagination. Miley Cyrus skipped the 2016 VMAS, instead choosing to be a homebody and to hang out with her dogs. The singer revealed her alternate plans for the evening of the 2016 VMAs in an Instagram shot, which she posted a few hours prior to the Aug. 28 ceremony.
Cyrus captioned the image, explaining why she would be MIA at the VMAs. She wrote, "I am toooo busy at home doing yoga & making out w my dogs!"
She wasn't kidding. Cyrus is flanked by one of her pooches and wearing a hot pink sports bra (or cropped tank) and black capri leggings with pink print. I can't quite make out what the graphics are. But it looks like a popsicle print. Her signature pixie is growing out and is extra long, wet, and messy in the image.
There were rumors that this was a prank and that she was throwing her Smilers off the scent. It wouldn't have been a shock and she could have been getting ready for the event with a little meditation!
However, opting out in favor of chilling with her canines makes total sense. Since reuniting with her ex-fiance, Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth, pop music's wild child has toned down her wild antics and attire.
Cyrus has earned "one to watch" status for red carpets and celeb events, simply because we never know what she is going to do, say, or wear. While I certainly missed her (and her ensemble) at this year's ceremony, I can't fault her sitting this one out in favor of being comfy and chilling.

Her 2014 VMAs outfit, which saw her rocking black leather capris and bandeau, was deceptively understated and insanely sexy.
It was also unexpected, given the splashy twerkfest and nude latex performance ensemble she wore when sharing the stage with Robin Thicke back in 2013.
Her 2015 look was just... fabulously outrageous.
