How To Order An "Oatmeal Latte" At Starbucks
You thought we'd reached peak coffee shop, didn't you? What with your latte art and your seasonal spices and your matcha powder infusions? Well, you were wrong, my caffeine-loving friend, because now a latte specifically for breakfast has been created — so of course you're going to want to know how to order the "Oatmeal Latte" at Starbucks. Although it's not an official Starbucks menu item, this secret menu-style ordering hack practically redefines the entire concept of breaking your fast in the morning. I mean, why waste time eating and drinking, when you could combine both in one tasty, filling breakfast item with a little caffeine boost thrown in for good measure?
The beauty of it is that this genius concoction can be created with just a few simple ingredients. Oatmeal is key, of course, as is any type of steamed milk — choose from soy, coconut, almond, or any other of the many milk options available on the Starbucks menu. Combining these items together and adding as many espresso shots as you desire, then letting it sit for around three minutes so the oatmeal can absorb both the milk and those strong coffee notes, forms the base; then, all you need to do is add your toppings to complete your Oatmeal Latte. (Think honey, caramel, cream, or nuts.) While it's not exactly drinkable — the effect is more like espresso flavored oatmeal, rather than oatmeal-flavored espresso — it does take care of your need for multiple types of fuel in the morning, all in one go.
OK, now that you're practically salivating at the mouth and re-considering your toast and butter option for breakfast tomorrow, you'll want to know how to order this morning treat, right? Since, as Popsugar notes, the Oatmeal Latte is not on the regular Starbucks menu, you probably won't want to just ask for one by name; it's likely the barista won't know what you're talking about. Instead, you'll have to know which components to ask for in order to hack this new hybrid.
Here's how to do it:
1. Get To Your Nearest Starbucks
This is obvs going to be your first step. Check out the Starbucks store locator for help.
2. Order Some Regular Ol' Oatmeal
Starbucks offers classic whole-grain oatmeal (seen here), as well as a blueberry-infused version.
3. Order An Espresso Shot Or Two
Here, you have two options: You can either order the shots and ask your barista to pour them directly on top of the oatmeal; or, if they can't or won't do that, you can just order the shots separately and add them to the oatmeal yourself.
4. Let Your Oatmeal Sit
Allow everything to fuse together for a few minutes. Try not to get too impatient.
5. Top It Off
Brown sugar, nuts, syrup, fruit... the possibilities for completing your Oatmeal Latte are endless. Enjoy.
