Holy Waffles, Amy Poehler Finally Won An Emmy

by Kristie Rohwedder

After crushing it left and right on the small screen for years, Queen Amy P. finally got one of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' gold-plated winged statuettes. At Saturday night’s Creative Arts Emmys, the legendary duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler won the Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress In a Comedy Series. The former Weekend Update co-anchors nabbed the award for their co-hosting stint on Saturday Night Live . This is Fey’s ninth Emmy and Poehler’s first.

Yeah. Yeah. Go ahead and let that one marinate: Before this weekend happened, Amy Poehler did not have an Emmy. Somehow, she never won for the jewel of a role that is Leslie Knope or for the incomparable work she did on Saturday Night Live throughout the '00s. As Parks and Recreation co-creator Michael Schur told Entertainment Weekly back in 2015, “It’s one of the great Hollywood tragedies that [Poehler] hasn’t won an Emmy yet.”

But this past weekend, the snub streak came to an end. Amy Poehler is now an Emmy winner. Do you know what this calls for? A celebration. Not just any celebration, but a Leslie Knope-esque soirée (aka the best kind of soirée). How might Leslie honor Poehler's much-deserved and long overdue win? Here are some pretty reasonable guesses:

She'd Probably Make A Banner

I imagine it would say something along the lines of “You’ll Have To Find Someone Else To Host The Losers Party” or “Congrats To The Emmys For Finally Recognizing Amy For The Beautiful, Talented, Brilliant, Powerful Musk Ox That She Is."

There'd Be Lots Of Dancing

Because of course.

And There'd Be Lots Of Breakfast Food

This occasion calls for the best. And the best is breakfast food.

Waffles On Waffles On Waffles

Obviously.

Oh, And Waffle Sundaes

Now that's how you celebrate good news.

Not A Leafy Green To Be Found At This Party

Smell ya later, roughage.

Congrats, Queen Amy. You beautiful, talented, brilliant, powerful musk ox, you.
