Rami Malek's Emmys Date Could Be Anyone

by Allyson Koerner

A big part of any awards show is who each celebrity will end up taking as their date. Will it be their significant other? Will it be a family member? Will it be a friend? Will it be a co-star? Will it be their publicist? Really, the options are endless. If you're a fan of Mr. Robot, then you're probably wondering who Rami Malek is taking to the 2016 Emmys. Like when he was first seen portraying Elliot Alderson in Mr. Robot, ever since Malek was nominated for his first Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category, he's been the talk of the town. So of course people are curious about who he might end up walking the red carpet with or if he'll walk it alone and then meet his date inside at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Well, it doesn't seem to be public knowledge just yet who the 35-year-old talent will take as his date. But, based on his past dates, anyone could show up alongside Malek. When attending the 2016 Golden Globes, where he scored a nomination for his Mr. Robot lead actor role, he brought his mom. However, she seemed more interested in Mad Men's Jon Hamm than her own son. Malek told Ellen DeGeneres during a January taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, "All she wanted to do was meet Jon Hamm. I was like, 'OK, Mom. You can meet Jon Hamm. Hold on I've got to do some interviews.' And she's like, 'I need to meet Jon Hamm right now.'" Then, after Hamm won and beat Malek, he told DeGeneres, "His name got called and he won and she said, 'He deserved it.' I'm like, 'OK.'"

Too bad Hamm isn't nominated for an Emmy this year, because I'd be anxious to hear another story about Malek's mom (if she's his date at the Emmys) and the man who brought Don Draper to life.

During the 2016 SAG Awards, where, yes, Malek was nominated again, he didn't bring his mom as a date. According to E! News, "The actor was accompanied at the event by a publicist for Mr. Robot." There's a good chance the same will happen at the Emmys. Though, no offense to his publicist, I hope someone a bit more exciting shows up with him. For example, what about his twin brother, Sami Malek? Wouldn't it be great to see the Malek brothers strutting their stuff? Plus, as you can see below, they could even have a reunion with Jimmy Kimmel, since he is hosting the 2016 Emmys:

If neither Malek's mom, brother, or publicist attend the Emmys with him, then who will? I mean, he may just show up by himself or decide to go with the Mr. Robot cast. Whatever happens, all I care about is seeing him on the red carpet being his adorable self and of course taking home a win in his category, because he so truly deserves it.
