There's no doubt that Season 2 of FX's hit drama Fargo was so successful thanks to Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons. The actors portrayal of husband and wife duo Ed and Peggy Blumquist was more than anything I could've hoped for as a fan of the series. Their chemistry and how they played off of one another was perfection, so it makes sense that their connection on-screen seemingly transferred off-screen. In May, dating rumors spread about Dunst and Plemons after they were spotted hanging out and possibly kissing behind a fence. At the time of the report, neither commented and Bustle never heard back from their reps after reaching out for comment. Furthermore, not much has been heard about them and their supposed dating life, so are Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons dating — or still dating? Well, that's a tricky question and one the 2016 Emmys might be able to answer.
Seeing as Dunst and Plemons have been mum about whether or not they are together in the romantic sense and pretty much MIA "as a couple" from the public eye, they just might give some insight to just that while at the Emmys. They are both nominated for their Fargo roles, which means they could attend the awards together and make their red carpet debut as an official couple. If that actually happens, then fans will no longer have to wonder about Dunst and Plemons' relationship.
However, there is a chance they show up solo, but that doesn't mean anything. Even if they don't arrive or attend side by side, that doesn't mean they aren't a couple. They might want to keep it on the down low and then once inside the theater, they'll sit down as a couple. If this is the case, pay attention to how they interact with one another, because actions and body language sometimes speak louder than actual words.
Though, it would be nice to hear them come outright either confirming or denying romance reports. Let's hope the former happens during a red carpet interview, because I'm sure Plemons would gush about Dunst like he has in the past and that's something I need to hear. While talking with FOX411 in October 2015, Plemons said, "It was a gift," about working with Dunst. He then added, "I loved Kirsten's work for a long time, and I was really excited once I’d met her, and she’s a great person, and we’re both actors that just… have fun with the material." Dunst also commented and said, "I mean, I was happy working with Jesse. We had a really nice time, and had a similar style."
Better yet, let's hope one or both of them win in their respective categories, because then they may thank one another in their acceptance speeches. Or, they could totally be cryptic about it and keep fans wondering further about just what the heck is going on with them.
Really, who knows if they were ever dating or are still dating, but let's hope the Emmys is the place where some answers will finally be given.
