Clinton Calls Out Trump's Bromance On 'Fallon'

by Melissa Cruz

Trump made a much-criticized appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last week, but no worries — he left behind some "presents" for Clinton's turn on the program Monday night. This marked Clinton's third interview with Fallon on his show, and this time she was welcomed with a bag of the Republican nominee's belongings that Fallon jokingly suggested had been left in her dressing room. The brown sack, which Clinton said looked like "homeless person's bag," contained some of Trump's most treasured items — including a framed photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin, for starters.

Fallon and Clinton decided to rummage through the bag, and the first item they pulled out is what the comedian originally guessed was a photo of Trump's wife, Melania. "No, that's not Melania, is that?" he asked. Instead, the heart-shaped frame contained a photo of Putin. "No," Clinton quickly answered, "the most famous 'bromance' going."

The New York Times has even characterized Trump's admiration of Putin as a "crush," with the Republican nominee recently saying that the Russian president's leadership skills far outweighed those of President Obama.

Fallon then reminded Clinton of the "bromance" he currently shares with singer Justin Timberlake, saying theirs was perhaps the most famous, but Clinton corrected him: "But Justin's worthy of your attention. Because, last I checked, he hadn't killed off his adversaries." The best.

The comedian then pulled out a CD — "why would he have a CD in there?" Fallon mused — but soon the answer became abundantly clear: it was a copy of Pink Floyd's The Wall. "Oh, so now I understand why he must be really into that," Fallon said.

Another glorious jab at Trump's insistence on building a wall between the United States and Mexico border, the one campaign promise that has perhaps become a tenet of his campaign more than any other. And thankfully, Clinton was quick to jump on that one too: "That's as close as he's gonna get to the wall."

Fallon ended the segment with an acknowledgment of the criticism he's received since having Trump on the show the previous week, with many saying he went far too easy on the GOP nominee. For this last bit, the former secretary of state pulled out a bag of softballs. "Oh!" Clinton remarked. "He left these for you: softballs."

But Fallon was quick to defend himself from the remark, with a laugh: "That was my gift for him. I'll give them to you later in the interview."

Though the interview had a fun, lighthearted air about it, Clinton didn't mince her words when it came to talking about Trump.
