Angelina's Last Quote About Brad Was So Sweet

by Taylor Ferber

The world is weeping and might never stop, because the one Hollywood couple everyone assumed had it in the bag is yet another in the fast lane towards splitsville. After 10 years together, two years of marriage, and six children, TMZ reports that Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences. No, there is no third person involved, but instead allegedly the two aren't seeing eye-to-eye when it comes to parenting methods. The last time she gave a substantial interview, she solely spoke to her children, giving birth in Africa, and her preventive double mastectomy, without mention of her husband. So when is the last time Jolie spoke about Brad Pitt?

Update: Jolie's lawyer has confirmed that she did in fact file for divorce from Pitt in a statement to Reuters: "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time," said Robert Offer, according to the newswire.

Update 2: Brad Pitt has released a statement to PEOPLE confirming the news: "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

I'm completely shocked the iconic couple is splitting, but am not so shocked that the rumor on the street would be that it's over the kids. Jolie did start adopting before Pitt came into her life romantically. Should I have seen this coming? And yet it gets worse. Jolie reportedly wants physical custody of all six children, with alleged hopes to only grant Pitt visitation rights. According to the report, she was allegedly "extremely upset" with the way he was raising them. Clearly, the kids weigh heavily on her mind, especially lately. As I mentioned before, Jolie spoke with BBC Radio 4's Women's Hour about them in June, but her husband wasn't mentioned. The last time she spoke of Pitt was all the way back in January 2016.

Before rumors of marriage "crisis talks" started this summer (which everyone dismissed, because it's freaking Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt), it looks like the last time Jolie mentioned her husband was in January when promoting Kung Fu Panda 3 in Los Angeles. The actress spoke to Extra about Pitt's Oscar nomination for The Big Short , giving nothing but praise:

I'm always proud of him because of all the work he does, and how he balances his family life and work. I love him, I'm proud of his film. I'd be proud either way, obviously. It's lovely for him, it's lovely for the film, it's an important film — I don’t need that [Oscar recognition] to be proud of him.

The two of course made positive headlines after working together in their 2015 film By the Sea , even giving a rare joint interview on Today in November 2015, when they spoke to family, marriage, and life in the spotlight. Later that month, Pitt gushed about his wife and the joy of family to The Telegraph, saying, "Angie and I were aiming for a dozen." Damn, guys. Another one bites the dust.

Hopefully, things won't get too messy moving forward, not only for the sake of their children, but of course, the rest of the world who's feeling pretty devastated right about now.
