Alicia Keys Met Her Match On 'The Voice'

by Jessica Molinari

Some people want it all...and then get it all. That is exactly the case for The Voice' s Lauren Diaz. The 24-year-old sang "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys in front of her idol, Alicia Keys, and absolutely slayed. She was so good, in fact, that she brought Keys to tears and had her up on stage immediately after Diaz completed her performance. While the two embraced on stage and gushed over how much they love each other, Blake Shelton and Miley Cyrus also attempted to win over Diaz's affection in hopes she would join her team. Obviously, their dreams were quickly dashed because it was clear that once Diaz and Keys connected they were never, ever going to part. Diaz quickly chose to join Team Alicia and just like that, the ultimate The Voice power duo was born.

Before Diaz even stepped onto The Voice stage, it was clear she was something special. Her desire and passion for performing was palpable—but her love of Alicia Keys was even more so. In her intro, Diaz named Keys as her biggest inspiration. She used to dress up as her as a child, and even performed one of her songs when Diaz appeared on—and won—"America's Talented Kids" at age 13. Though a record deal didn't come out of that success, Diaz never lost sight of her dream. And now she's realizing it.

Based on their first meeting, Diaz and Keys are made for each other. Despite their immediate infatuation, the two talented ladies have a lot in common. For one, they are both powerhouse vocalists with a knack for R&B ballads. In addition, they are both extremely passionate about their art—if they weren't, they wouldn't be able to sing "If I Ain't Got You" as flawlessly as they do. With Keys on her side, Diaz will quickly skyrocket to the front of The Voice pack. Practically nothing can stop them now, unless they become too obsessed with each other to focus. Either way, they're certainly the duo to watch.
