The 'Hollywood Medium' Isn't Just For Stars

by Lindsay Denninger

I love a good medium show and, skeptics be damned, Hollywood Medium is one of my favorites. I don’t know if it’s because Tyler Henry is so cute or so kind to his subjects (a necessity given the nature of what he does), but I love watching him read celebrities. But why do celebrities get to have all of the fun? Does Tyler Henry do readings for non-celebrities? Us regular people outside of Hollywood want to speak to those who have crossed over, too.

According to his website, Tyler first realized that he had a special gift when his grandmother was sick with terminal cancer. When she was ill, he started having “strong, intuitive hunches that would later turn into a series of profound visions that proved to be true.” After a near-death experience, Tyler opted to use his abilities for good — to help those living get closure with their dead loved ones. His television show focuses on doing this for celebrities, but Tyler actually does do private readings for non-celebs, too. The only caveat is that you’ll probably have to wait a while to get one. On his website, Tyler has a form to fill out to request a private/small group reading, but the following warning is at the top: “Your inquiry will be received and responded to as we go down the list… Please understand that with the increased shooting schedule of Hollywood Medium it may take a while to get back to you.”

So there’s a chance that you could have Tyler help you connect with your departed loved ones, but there’s really no telling how long it would take until you would get a call to make an appointment. That’s what happens with famous mediums — demand increases, and there’s only one of them.

Since I know I won’t be able to talk to Tyler for a while, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite Hollywood Medium moments to tide me over until I get the call.

Carole Radziwill

When Tyler read this journalist, author, and Real Housewives Of New York cast member, I knew I was going to cry like a little baby. Why? Well, I read Radziwill’s memoir, What Remains, about the deaths of her friends, John F. Kennedy, Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and husband, Anthony Radziwill, and sobbed through the whole thing. Then Tyler channeled Bessette Kennedy and I sobbed again.

Margaret Cho

I’m sure that Margaret Cho was not exactly expecting to have old friend Robin Williams come through during her reading with Tyler. They weren’t close, but she was still honored that Williams peeked through during her session.

Amber Rose

Part of seeing a medium is asking the medium what they see in your future, and Amber Rose proved that stars are just like us — she wants to know if she'll find love again. She said explicitly that she does not want to be with any more rappers, so at least she's figured out what she wants from her past experiences.

Ross Matthews

Matthews is pretty unflappable – he talks to all manner of celebrities on the red carpet for E!, but even he freaked out at his reading with Tyler. Tyler talked to his dad and referenced their many fishing trips, and even Matthews had to say that the reading was dead on.

I guess I'll just watch some more clips of Hollywood Medium while I'm waiting for my turn, Tyler!
