Another One Bit The Dust On 'DWTS'

by Lindsay Denninger

As much as I like to watch the group numbers on Dancing With The Stars, there comes a time when dancers need to be eliminated. It doesn’t get any easier, but the stakes do get higher each week (I like that part, at least). Unfortunately for Rick Perry, he was eliminated on Dancing With The Stars this week. Rick and partner Emma Slater put up a good fight, but the other dancers on the show proved to be too much. Maybe Rick’s fans just didn’t vote!

Rick had an uphill climb from the beginning — he wasn’t the most experienced dancer on Dancing With The Stars, that’s for sure, but what he lacked in dancing abilities he made up for in enthusiasm. Emma had her work cut out for her, but even an ankle injury couldn’t stop Rick from getting on the dance floor. He said he was doing it not just to prepare for his daughter’s upcoming wedding (he mentioned that she’s getting hitched October 15), but also to show his support for veterans all around the country. He’s been a governor and a presidential candidate, but being on Dancing With The Stars seemed to bring Rick the most joy (it’s also way harder, I think).

So what happens now for Rick Perry? He can’t run for president again for another three years or so (2016 is all filled up), so he’ll watch his daughter get married, maybe take some more dance lessons, hang out in Texas a little bit. On Dancing With The Stars, the competition will just get tighter and tighter from here. I think it’s all Laurie Hernandez’s game to lose, but I’ve been wrong before. We’ll just have to tune in to find out!
