Is Jason Jones Leaving 'The Daily Show'?

by Alanna Bennett

Jason Jones has been a member of the team over at The Daily Show for five years. He's married in real-life to fellow correspondent Samantha Bee. Basically, he's got roots there. But like many before him, it may be time to move on to other things: Jones just got an NBC comedy gig. In other words, he might be nearing the time to move on. The show in question is NBC comedy pilot Love is Relative. Jones has been cast as the lead, alongside Leslie Bibb (About a Boy, Burning Love), who will be playing his onscreen wife. It's still pilot season, so it's yet to be seen whether the pilot's actually picked up — but if it is, that's bye-bye Jason Jones in the late night comedy slot.

The Daily Show's of course had plenty of correspondents make their exits to flourish in the wilds of the entertainment world: Steve Carell's probably the most famous, but he's joined by Ed Helms, John Oliver, Rob Riggle, Josh Gad, Ron Corddry — and, of course, Stephen Colbert.

The move would also make sense given The Daily Show's recent hiring of another correspondent, Jordan Klepper, who may be filling Jones demographical shoes. But we'll always have Russia, Jason Jones.
