On Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. ET, Kylie Jenner launched her newest lip color, Smile. By Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET, Kylie's Smile lip kit was completely sold out. While this may not have come as a shock to anyone (after all, when hasn't a Kylie lip product sold out almost immediately?), it was certainly a disappointment. Luckily, though, there are plenty of Kylie Smile lip kit alternatives to help you get your matte, pale pink fix.
As much as we love all of Kylizzle's lip colors, her newest shade was particularly lust-worthy for a very important reason: 100 percent of the net proceeds from Smile sales went to Smiletrain to support cleft palette surgery for women mothers and children in the developing world. So, even though it's sad that we couldn't all get our hands on one (full disclosure: I missed out too), it's pretty amazing that she was able to raise so much money and awareness for such an amazing cause so quickly.
In more good news, Kylie also has two new fall lip kits launching on Oct. 12 (Spice, which is a slightly lighter version of Kourt K, and Pumpkin, a color that resembles a cinnamony-brown), so it won't be long until we have another chance at a brand new shade. Sadly, though, she won't be restocking Smile, as far as we know, so you should plan on shopping one of these similar duples.
And to really get the full Smile lip kit experience, feel free to donate directly to Smiletrain in honor of National Smile Day on October 3.
This "cream" is somewhere between a lipstick and a lipgloss, and the unique formula creates a silky smooth finish. They're also super long lasting, and pretty much guaranteed to stay on all day,
This is the closest shade to Smile, and provides the same smooth, matte finish that you would expect from a Kylie Lip Kit. It's also infused with a no-sting lip plumper and filler, so you can really get some major looking Jenner lips, sans pringle container.
As far as finish goes, this product is a double whammy: If you apply regularly, you will get a shiny finish, but if you blot your lips after you apply it dries matte. Two for the price of one?! Yes, please.
Not only is this BareMinerals gloss infused with primer (which gives your lips a soft-focus effect and helps prevent feathering, bleeding and transferring), but it also smells like vanilla. Mmmmmm.
MAC's liquid lipstick has a unique "liquid-suede" finish which will give you the perfect balance between matte and moisture.
More disappointed about not being able to get your hands on the Smile lip liner than the gloss? This pale pink shade, from Sephora, is an easy substitute.
ColourPop's pale pink matte with is very close in color and coverage to "Smile," and if you buy the coordinating "Heart On" lip pencil, you've basically got yourself a Kylie Lip Kit (for half the price!).
