This Taylor Swift Album Theory Is Convicing

by Allie Gemmill

I don't know about you, but I am absolutely dying to know whether Taylor Swift will actually release a new album in 2016. Many theories have been pointing to Oct. 22 as the magical date when Swift will either announce or release a new album, because it will have been two years since 1989 was released. But, is there really any truth to the matter? Well, it's fair to say that many a fan's spidey senses are tingling right now because the two-year mark is fast approaching — not to mention, we all know that, previously, Swift's made it a habit to announce albums in October, so now would the time for another such announcement to drop. The only caveat here is that Swift has often released the lead single from an album ahead of the traditional October announcement, and there's been no such activity this time around.

But, Swift's latest tweet about her performance at the upcoming Formula 1 Grand Prix has left me pondering if this event will be her platform to perform new music, make an album announcement or both. I, for one, am firmly in this camp. It would be an unconventional move for Swift, but it would also be a headline-making move. Most of all, this could be the kind of publicity she needs to shift the focus from her personal life back to her musical career.

Considering the eventful year (and that's putting it mildly ) that Swift has had thus far, it's a little tough to judge exactly what she is planning unless she has explicitly announced it, because she has had to stay mum on many of the events in her personal life going so virally public. As such, those big album rumors have remained precisely that — rumors – and Swift has kept very mum about whether any new music will indeed be dropping.

Bottom line: it's been a hot, hot minute since we last heard anything remotely musical from the Swift camp (excluding her work on Calvin Harris' "This Is What You Came For"), so for her to at least play some new music at the Grand Prix would leave us Swifties cheering in our seats. We'll have to wait and see.
