Beyonce's Sax Stole The Show At The 2016 CMAs

by Lindsay Denninger

As soon as the news leaked that Beyoncé was going to perform at the 2016 CMAs, I was ready and raring to tune into the award show. It’s the ceremony’s 50th anniversary, so they’re really pulling out all the stops, you know? I waited and waited and waited, and I have to say Beyoncé’s performance kind of underwhelmed me — I mean, she was great and all, but Beyoncé was totally upstaged by her saxophone player at the 2016 CMAs. And, in true modern fashion, the Internet ate it all up.

I know it’s probably sacrilegious to say it, especially with Beyoncé and the Dixie Chicks on the stage, but as soon as “Daddy Lessons” started, I just could not keep my eyes off of the saxophone player! I mean, the saxophone here totally makes the arrangement of the song, but I wanted to know — who was this person? Where did those moves come from? How much longer could I hear the smooth saxophone songs coming out of that instrument? Can I pull off a white tuxedo like that? The answer to the last question is definitely no, by the way. Anyway, it seems like I wasn’t the only one with questions about this ivory-suited musician — Twitter tells me that his name is Leo Pellegrino, and he is spectacular. I mean, look!

Look at this dancing, grooving musical wonder!

Sorry, Beyoncé, but for once in your career, everyone was not necessarily talking about you.

I don't know about you, but I think that Pellegrino needs own stage. Like all the time. He needs his own everything. Would you pay to see just Beyoncé and Pellegrino go out on tour together? I would be there front row center.
