You'll Have To Wait For Sam Bee's Election Takes

by Dana Getz

Since premiering in February, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee has emerged as a clear late night standout. In particular, the show has raked in praise for host Bee’s election coverage, lending smart, acerbic comedy to fact-checking Hillary Clinton, taking down Ted Cruz fans, and diligently trying to understand Donald Trump supporters. On the eve of the final presidential results, this brings up one very important question: is Full Frontal with Samantha Bee airing on election night?

The short answer is no, but that doesn’t mean you won’t get your fill of the late night breakout this week. Its regularly scheduled Monday night episode already went live with a bang, featuring a fantastic guest spot from American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson, who put a dramatic flair on Donald Trump’s emails. If you already missed it, don’t fret: TBS will air a special election edition of Full Frontal on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 10:30 p.m. ET. With only a vague description that reads, “A relieved Sam highlights the end of the 2016 presidential election,” details around what the extra episode will include are murky. Still, Bee has proven herself as a political coverage pro. She ran successful specials for each of the presidential debates earlier this fall, where she skewered Trump’s controversial Access Hollywood video and defended women’s right to choose.

Sensing a theme? That’s because Full Frontal released an endorsement for Hillary Clinton last Tuesday. While the show’s producers haven’t exactly been shy about their political affiliations, this marked the first time they’d officially joined the “I’m With Her” bandwagon. Based on the reveal, one can expect one of two scenarios on Wednesday’s election special. Either Bee will throw a gigantic, celebratory bash, or she’ll spend her monologue telling America what idiots we are. Whichever way the vote lands, you can bet she’ll bring some of her finest work to the table.
