The results of the 2016 election have garnered all kinds of reactions from celebrities, but here is one that's a must-read. Kris Jenner is using the perfect hashtag in response to the election and it shows just how much love is needed during this emotional time. In addition to tweeting her reaction to the aftermath of Donald Trump winning the presidency over Hillary Clinton, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star shared a lengthy Instagram caption on Wednesday alongside a quote from author Wilferd Peterson reading, "Let your light shine. Be a source of strength and courage. Share your wisdom. Radiate love."
Basically, the reality star believes that now is the time for everyone to come together. As hard as it may be to understand right now, divisiveness is not the answer. The future of our country depends on kindness, compassion, respect, unity, and love. How can we have that if there is no united front? Here is how Jenner feels about it all:
Today we must continue to stand for what we believe in: love, acceptance, equality, fairness and respect for all. We mustn't be divided. We must reach out and hold on to each other... To our friends, families and communities who share our common goals of unity, compassion and faith. I will continue to #spreadlove and fight hate at all costs. This is the beginning of a new chapter for our country, and together we must embrace it so that we can move forward as one. Know your values, keep your head high, stand strong... we're in this together. #radiatelove
If you take anything away from her words (really, you should let them all sink in), it's her final hashtag, "#radiatelove." It's unclear if she came up with the hashtag on her own (Miley Cyrus tweeted the exact same quote and hashtag in 2011) or if Peterson's quote inspired her, but one thing remains certain. The hashtag is truly beautiful, isn't it?
As Jackie DeShannon sings in her 1965 hit song of the same name, "What the world needs now is love," and Jenner believes that, as well. Why spread hate, when you can radiate love? It is something that is far too often lacking in this world. Hate has become more common and it's mind-boggling. Everyone has different opinions when it comes to politics and who should lead the nation, but that doesn't mean anyone should forget human decency and civility.
As scared as you may be about what the outcome of this election may mean for the United States as a whole, remember that we are stronger together. Trump wasn't the president Jenner was hoping for, but she won't let that stop her from radiating love. I couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you, Kris Jenner, for your lovely and accurate words.
