Another 'Hamilton Mixtape' Song Is On The Way

by Amy Mackelden

The Hamilton Mixtape is at the top of most holiday wish lists, and it's easy to see why. With incredible artists attached like Sia, John Legend, and Alicia Keys, fans are all eager and waiting to hear new versions of songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda's multi-award-winning musical. As with any fast approaching release date, there's been a lot of online anticipation about the Hamilton Mixtape, and Miranda himself has been announcing information about song releases via Twitter. So, how can you listen to "Wrote My Way Out" from the Hamilton Mixtape right now?

On Thursday, Miranda tweeted, "I spit 16 on Wrote My Way Out, so I'm anxious for you to hear it," and his tweet was followed by avid fans announcing that the song is already available to download in Australia. Obviously, Australia hit midnight way before the U.S. on Nov. 18, meaning that Hamilton fans that live on the opposite side of the world are able to hear the song before anyone else. It also means that countries whose timezones are ahead of the U.S. will see the release of the Hamilton Mixtape track first. Essentially, everyone will be able to purchase "Wrote My Way Out" when it turns midnight in their locale, which is so Cinderella — I love it. Miranda calls this technique the "New Years Day Drop" and explained, "I call it the New Years Day Drop because you can see the fireworks coming around the world w/each time zone. Not literal New Years Day."

The Hamilton Mixtape is due for release on Dec. 2, and the lengths of all of the tracks are now listed on iTunes. Performed by Nas, Dave East, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Aloe Blacc, fans are understandably excited to hear the writer perform a new version of his song, alongside a roster of such great musicians. Judging by the reactions to "Wrote My Way Out" so far, fans are not disappointed by Miranda's new version of the track and, if anything, it's made the public even more excited for the full release of the Hamilton Mixtape.

Hamilton fans in the U.S. have to be a little bit patient as they wait for the release of "Write My Way Out," but it's sure to be worth it, judging by the internet's reactions to the song, and the pure love everyone is sending to Miranda on Twitter.
