Kim & Kanye Are Reportedly Taking A Break

by Nicole Pomarico

Is it just me, or has 2016 been a universally bad year for everyone? It seems the entire world can't wait for this year to be over, and I think that counts double where Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are concerned. Between the two of them, they've been through a lot, like a robbery in France, hospitalization for exhaustion, and more than 20 canceled tour dates. And now, it sounds like they're doing what the rest of us should probably do: hide out until the new year in hopes that things get better in 2017. According to Page Six, Kardashian and West are reportedly taking the rest of the year off, and it's probably the best thing they could possibly do for themselves. (Bustle has reached out to Kardashian's rep for comment; West's rep could not be reached at the time of publication.)

So what does that mean, exactly? From the sounds of the report, it means no concerts, no public appearances, nothing that would put them in the public eye at all. A source close to the couple tells the site that they "plan on taking the rest of 2016 off and [spend] time as a family" since West is reportedly "stable, but needs time to come back." Well, it's been less than a week since he was reportedly released from the hospital, so I'm guessing that could very easily be true.

After everything the end of 2016 has brought them, this sounds like a really solid plan. Not only do they both work hard all year long and deserve a rare break when the opportunity prevents itself, but they've hit a lot of truly difficult obstacles in recent months. I can't imagine dealing with a robbery and exhaustion in my family, and I'm not being followed by paparazzi, camera crews, and millions of people on social media. It's a good thing if they're taking a step back, because I have a feeling they could use a month cuddling their little ones and living life without the spotlight.

And if you're worried about what this means for Keeping Up With The Kardashians, don't be. Last week, E! confirmed that the show is still in production, although there hasn't been any word on whether or not Kardashian and West will be involved in filming or not.

Here's hoping this break is exactly what Kardashian and West need for their happiness and wellbeing. They deserve the best year ever when 2017 rolls around, and maybe that will even mean Kardashian's return to Instagram. A girl can dream!
