Chris Pratt Is The Santa Claus We've All Needed

by S. Atkinson

Hello, ladies. Is your boy/girlfriend too busy to hang out tonight? Are you stressed from the pressures of being a person on Planet Earth in 2016? Could you use a little relaxation? Skip the bubble bath and trot on over to your laptop, because Chris Pratt's Christmas-themed Mad Libs on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is just what the doctor ordered. The Passengers star appeared on last night's The Tonight Show's Mad Lib Theater segment, and, after answering a series of seemingly random questions from Fallon ("Animals plural?" "Gerbils!"), he then had to use his own cues to create a Christmas-themed improvisation.

While the sheer eccentricity of Pratt's answers meant he was basically his own worst enemy, somehow, the man we first knew and loved as Andy Dwyer on Parks And Recreation pulled it off. Which was crazy, because this was like a high-stakes heist, but with improvisation.

But I'm not telling you about this sketch because it was funny and cute (though sure, that too). The most compelling aspect of the sketch, aside from Fallon's mid-sketch accent switcheroo, is how Pratt is his sexiest self as Santa. This isn't necessarily something logic can explain. He's got a half-attached beard and a pot belly. But, somehow, the man really suits that Santa costume.

Why? While Pratt has gone through something of a body metamorphosis in the past few years, piling on the muscles for films like Zero Dark Thirty, I'd argue we don't necessarily need him to be incredibly buff. Heck, Hugh Jackman, Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Craig have all got us well covered on that score. For me, his unique selling point has nothing to do with his enviable physique. It has to do with his personality. What makes us crush on Pratt is that he's not just funny, he's sweet.

Think about it: sure, there are tons of funny people around in Tinseltown, but they're often snarky and make their jokes at others' expense. But Pratt's good at making nice funny, which is what makes him the perfect Santa. Heck, even his stern Santa putting the elf on his Naughty List isn't all that stern. Nope, it suggests the ultimate Christmas fantasy: namely, if Pratt was, in fact, Santa, nobody would have to be worried about getting a lump of coal in their stocking.

So, if you're ready to feel peculiarly attracted to Santa Claus, give the video above a try. It could make this Christmas the most sensual ever.
