'Captain America: The Winter Soldier's Started A Meme That Will Make You Trust No One

There are a number of different ways to measure something's success in this day and age. Sales, sure. Perhaps more interesting, though? Memes. Marvel's got a stranglehold over the box office seemingly whenever it pleases — to the degree that, it should be noted, as I was typing this sentence a trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier came on my television. The Internet is, of course, quite fond of reminding the public of Marvel's influence.

The most recent incarnation of this is a meme to do with Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And yes, if you'd like to avoid spoilers, turn back now.

Winter Soldier features the presence of Hydra, a "a world-wide subversive organization dedicated to global domination." In one scene, The Larry Sanders Show's Garry Shandling leans over to a S.H.I.E.L.D employee and whispers "Hail Hydra," alerting us to the fact that he and many others embedded in powerful places had been working with Hydra.

Now no one is safe. Everyone leaning close to someone else? Probs "Hail Hydra"ing in the eyes of this meme. So let's explore the best of Twitter's #HailHydra tag.

Frank Underwood would definitely.

Hella resources and chances to be schemey? He’s already there.

This one actually seems likely

I mean.

Trust no one.

Would any of us really be surprised if the entire Friends cast were Illuminati? It only follows they might be Hydra.

She is Black Widow, after all

We finally know what Bill Murray whispered to Scarlett Johansson at the end of ‘Lost In Translation.’

Taking the hydra name literally

In the Marvelverse this could easily be a shapeshifting superhero in disguise.

Crossing over 'Game Of Thrones' With Marvel might shatter tumblr.

“The Rains Of Castamere” would have fit in at multiple points in Winter Soldier.

Et tu, Stu?

Et tu?

This might put us on Hydra's side?

Just saying.

Most definitely the best one

It’s my favorite, at least.
