Miley Got Rid Of Her Dog & Now We're Sad

by Lia Beck

Miley Cyrus lost her dog Floyd nearly two weeks ago and since then she has mourned in a wide variety of ways. Some were relatable — writing sad tweets, cuddling with her other pets — and some were very specific to Cyrus — singing "Can't Be Tamed" to a giant inflatable replica of the dog during a concert. Another way Cyrus coped with the loss of Floyd was finding comfort in a new puppy. Cyrus' mom, Tish, gave Cyrus a puppy named Moonie soon after Floyd passed away. After struggling with the idea of a new puppy, Miley Cyrus has decided to give Moonie away.

On Sunday, Cyrus wrote on Twitter, "Moonie, thank you for giving me so much love, comfort, & peace. It's just to soon for me right now #missingmoonie." When I fan asked what happened to Moonie, Cyrus explained that she found a new home for him. "@gypsyhearttour my friends mom who has a tiny pup 4 him 2 play with Molly After wht happened Im scared 2 have a tiny dog #moonieandmolly." Cyrus is referring to the unbelievably sad fact that Floyd, a small Alaskan Klee Kai, was killed when he was attacked by a coyote.

After receiving Moonie, Cyrus was torn on whether or not to keep the puppy. She was happy when Moonie arrived:

But soon felt unsure about their future together:

The last one is particularly sad because it looks like Moonie is all packed up to be sent away in that suitcase!

Cyrus has three other dogs, so giving away Moonie doesn't mean she'll be lacking in pet love. Anyway, it sounds like Moonie's found a great home and a new friend to play with. Goodbye Moonie! Maybe we'll see you on Instagram some day soon!
