Watch This Waspy Lady Join An Urban Dance Team

If you’ve ever lived in New York, you’ve probably been forced to sit through at least one musical or dance performance while riding the subway. And if you haven’t lived in New York? You’ve probably seen at least one video of people being forced to watch a musical or dance performance on the subway. To be fair, some of those performances are really rather impressive — but I guarantee you that none of them are quite like this one. Ladies and gentlemen, now presenting “Kate the Wasp Joins a Subway Dance Team!”

If this your first experience with Kate the Wasp, welcome to the fold. A New York-based comedian, performer, and writer, Kate Hendricks created the super blonde, uptight, WASP-y character in 2012; since then, 25 episodes of her YouTube series have hit the web, and they’ve just gotten more and more hilarious with time. With each one, she knocks down all sorts of cultural assumptions — all while causing some serious bouts of gut-busting laughter. This latest installment sees her attempting to get her groove on with a subway dance routine:

But that’s not the only topic she’s taken on. Kate the Wasp has also looked for love on OKCupid:

Gone to a sex shop:

And attended the Puerto Rican Day Parade:

Among, of course, many, many others. I kind of like to think of her as the pearl-clutching version of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, but maybe that’s just me. Cosmo once called her “Adam Carolla if he was self-aware — and actually funny,” which is actually quite accurate. As she says in her Twitter bio, “Relax. It’s satire.”
