Miley's New Video Is Surreal, Terrifying

by Kaitlin Reilly

Miley Cyrus hasn't dropped a new music video since "Adore You," but she did just share a brand new video project with the world. Nope, it's not a music video for one of the songs off of her Bangerz album — you'll have to wait a bit longer for more of those. The Nowness has shared a new experimental Miley Cyrus video starring none other than the "Wrecking Ball" singer herself, and, spoiler alert, it's insane.

And by "insane," I mean it's absolutely horrifying and will probably show up in my nightmares. This video — titled "Tongue Tied" — is Miley's collaboration with filmmaker Quentin Jones, and it's like nothing Miley has done before. It's like if David Lynch decided to make a music video for Miley Cyrus. The black and white video features a whole bunch of unsettling images, and it's a far cry from Miley's cheerier (if also weird) video for "We Can't Stop." Images include Miley as a disembodied head, Miley smearing black paint all over her body, Miley with duct tape X's over her breasts, Miley throwing her tongue left and right — err, well, the last part doesn't seem quite so weird, but you get it.

Here are some of the weirdest stills from the video:

In which Miley wears the freakiest false eyelashes ever.

Duct tape allows you to create your own DIY bra!

Good luck getting that off your body.

Ugh, I really need to go back to yoga.

AHH MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The video is quite unsettling (which I am pretty sure is the entire point) but it's also sort of fascinating to watch. As much as I hate to admit it, it's hard not to be entranced by the things that Miley does. That being said, I already know that Miley's paint-smeared face will turn up in my dreams tonight, and I'm not looking forward to it.
