Steve Carell Is Hysterical In New Trailer

by Casey Rackham

Disney released its first trailer for the feel-good family movie based on the classic children's book of the same name written by Judy Viorst, and as we can see from the sneak peek, Alexander isn't the only one having a bad day anymore — his entire family is. "Hashtag blessed," ya know? With lines like that coming out of the mouths of the actors in the trailer for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day , we're pretty much super pumped for the upcoming children's film.

Everything starts out with only Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) having one mess of a day, but things quickly turn from #blessed to hysterically disastrous for the rest of his family. His dad and mom (Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner, respectively) struggle with everything from shirts catching on fire in business lunches to crocodiles in the living room, and his older brother (Dylan Minnette) epically fails his driver's test, which is administered by the always funny Jennifer Coolidge.

Not only does the movie look like it has the potential to be a heartwarming hit for Disney, but it showcases the best of Carell and Garner. After seeing Carell portray a complete and utter jerk in The Way, Way Back , it's a good change of pace to see the actor take on a laugh-out-loud role.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day hits theaters Oct. 10, 2014.
