Jack White Apologizes to Popular Rock Duo

by Emma Goddard

Beef between musicians? No surprise there. This sort of thing happens time and time again and Jack White of The White Stripes is no newcomer to the world of celebrity feuds. In August, a private email leaked, where White asked his ex-wife to take their daughter out of the same class as The Black Keys vocalist, Dan Auerbach, and recently, he continued to slam the band in a Rolling Stone article saying they copied his music. Now, after the tension between the two, Jack White has written an apology to The Black Keys.

The artist took to his website on Saturday to clear the air with a lengthy piece to the band.

There are a lot of things that only people around me can know about or understand, but despite all of that I want to say this: I wish the band the Black Keys all the success that they can get. I hope the best for their record label Nonesuch who has such a proud history in music, and in their efforts to bring the Black Keys songs to the world.

After also wishing success to the band’s producer and songwriter, White continued with, “Lord knows that I can tell you myself how hard it is to get people to pay attention to a two piece band with a plastic guitar, so any attention that The Black Keys can get in this world I wish it for them."

Throughout his apology, White also recognizes some other comments he made about musicians like Amy Winehouse, Duffy, Lana Del Rey, Adele, and especially his former bandmate and ex-wife, Meg White.

"This got blown out of proportion and made into headlines, and somehow I looked like I was picking on her," White said. "I would never publicly do that to someone I love so dearly."

Though the subject may still be a bit tender for some of the people he criticized through his so called "shop talk," with Rolling Stone, White’s apology seems genuine and I can only hope he avoids making any similar interview comments in the future.
