Her Edited Death Scene Gives Love A Bad Name

by Mallory Schlossberg

Still thinking about Ygritte's death from Episode 9 of Season 4 of Game of Thrones? Did it break your heart to watch her go, or were you balking at the sudden slow-mo? Well, this edit of Ygritte's death scene should surely mitigate any feelings you might be having. Why? It's a mash-up of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love A Bad Name," and her final moments. Because after all — she got a shot to the heart, and she was too late (and she does give love a bad name, given that she shot the guys she likes with a bow and arrow).

As it frequently does, the Internet has rewarded Game of Thrones watchers with a hilariously edited alternate ending to a death scene (did you see Oberyn's flying fake exit from last week? No? Check it out). This one is particularly funny because it's so on the mark. We saw that Ygritte did love Jon Snow — for all her talk of killing him, when it came down to the final moments, she just couldn't do it — but young Ollie didn't forget that she recklessly killed his family, resulting in her tragic fate.

Her death scene was a poignant, slower moment in an otherwise high-action episode, even if it did bring to mind Eponine's death scene in Les Mis for me (hey, it aired on Tony night, after all!).

This alternate rendition should help you acknowledge the fact that Bon Jovi and Westeros should mash up more frequently:
