Ho. Ho. Ho.

by Rachel Semigran

Well universe, the Internet has finally collapsed in on itself in a beautiful blaze of irony, for Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever is a thing that’s happening for the Lifetime network. Lifetime, which is best known for its soapy, sappy, all around so-bad-they’re good original films, is using the Internet’s favorite cat to lovingly mock its own brand this holiday season. Truly, there is no better spokesfeline to represent the absolute misery that is Thanksgiving through New Year’s. Well played Lifetime, well played.

Grumpy Cat (whose real name is Tardar Sauce) stars as a cat who is forever ignored at a pet store until one day, a 12-year-old girl finds her and can communicate with her. Grumpy Cat will indeed be voiced, but the actor has not yet been cast. We do, however, know that the movie will be “Part Homeward Bound and part Die Hard.” Sign. Me. Up.

According to the VP of original movies at Lifetime, Arturo Interian, "It brings fun and irreverence that we haven't had at Lifetime ...We're so known for our heartfelt sentimentality that it will poke fun at those stereotypes." Truth be told, we’re looking forward to Grumpy Cat taking all of those ho-ho-ho’s and turning them into ho-ho-NO’s.

Now that Grumpy Cat has officially been welcomed into the Lifetime fold (whether she likes it or NOT), here’s how we think she’d react to some of Lifetime’s finest original movies:

Dirty Teacher

"When a high school senior discovers her teacher is seducing her boyfriend, events turn deadly after the teacher tries to cover it up."

Virtual Lies

"Jamie Chapman is a wife and mother who has been feeling a distance growing between herself and her husband Will since he lost his job. She's shocked however, when she discovers that Will has been living another life — he's assumed an online identity and has been having an online affair with another woman."

The Pregnancy Pact

"An online magazine journalist returns to her hometown to investigate the sudden spike in teenage pregnancies at her old high school. The school nurse tries to convince the school to provide contraception to students to address the pregnancy epidemic. As the number of pregnant girls climbs to 18, a media firestorm erupts when Time Magazine reports that the rise in the number of pregnancies at the school is the result of a 'pregnancy pact.'"

Nora Roberts’ Blue Smoke

"The blaze that destroyed her family's business changed the life of young Reena Hale, forcing her family to start over from scratch. But the fire's brutal beauty and destructive power would seduce her into learning to understand and master its terrible force, leading her to become a fire investigator herself. This line of work proves to be exciting, but also has a dangerous side — and she soon finds herself caught in a hotbed of trouble!"

Trust

"A suburban family is torn apart when 14-year-old Annie meets her first boyfriend online. After months of communicating via online chat and phone, Annie discovers her friend is not who he originally claimed to be. Shocked into disbelief, her parents are shattered by their daughter's actions and struggle to support her as she comes to terms with what has happened to her once innocent life."

Christmas can't come soon enough.
