How To Dress Like Gillian

by Tyler Atwood

Though a particularly chic work ensemble can add an extra spring in your step on the way to the office, and those slouchy boyfriend jeans paired with espadrilles and a laid-back tee are ideal weekend attire, there's still something utterly enchanting about cocktail attire. Traditional rules of appropriateness can be left by the wayside for a few hours in favor of more daring wares. No longer are hemlines, necklines, and bare arms a concern. Wearing bright, somewhat tight dresses? Completely acceptable when you're off the clock.

Whether you're looking to dress for a special date or simply adding oomph to your after-hours wardrobe, replicating actress Gillian Jacobs's sweetly alluring look for summer is a no-brainer. The Community star recently attended the Monte Carlo Television Festival to promote the comedy, rocking the heck out of a bona fide party dress. For a sunset appearance at one of the festival's event, Jacobs wore a red, strapless, fit-n-flare frock with a sweetheart neckline which looks both subtly slinky and utterly refined. And in combination with Jacobs' luminous skin and flowing locks, the effect was one of relaxed glamour, perfect for the Italian coast…or any summer occasion which requires a little extra elegance.

Gillian Jacobs' dress is ideal for making a bold first impression this summer, no matter what the occasion. Try searching for a fitted dress with a flared skirt like Erin by Erin Fetherston's Jane Dress for a look as hot as hers.

Rather than selecting a pair of prim pumps, Jacobs opted for breezier high heeled black sandals, giving the look more of a casual feel. Zara's Leather High Heel Sandal With Ankle Strap offer the same understated effect, but without the high price tag.

Jacobs added a bit of sparkle to her ensemble by pairing a shimmering black clutch with her sultry red dress. Whiting & Davis's Crystal Mesh Clutch has a similar, subtle sparkle.

Though Jacobs' glow may well be from a few days spent basking in Monte Carlo sunlight, you can fake similarly luminous skin with a highlighter. Nars The Multiple in Copacabana is an industry standard for sheer, lit-from-within skin.
