The premier of design house Balenciaga's newest campaign is making some serious waves, and it isn’t about the clothes. Brazilian bombshell Gisele Bündchen is sporting a fresh buzz cut and it has garnered her a new title, certified badass.
The Fall 2014 ad depicts Bündchen in full on bad gal gear — black coat, thigh high black patent leather boots, and brooding stare. In addition to her Trinity from the Matrix finery, her trademark sun-kissed blond locks have been chopped and buzzed to create a stunning image of masculine and feminine power. Balenciaga artistic director Alexander Wang spoke with WWD about the look, “This is how I see Gisele for Balenciaga; strong, powerful, mysterious and uncompromising.”
Though the look is a striking change for the model, Bündchen has been a badass in many a campaign, even with her long locks intact. She may not be categorized as an edgy girl, but she can and has exuded power and strength through her feminine beauty. If you take into account the public stands she has taken for women's issues, including speaking out in support of the breastfeeding working mom — I don't have a glam squad but I feel yah girl — she was a certified badass well before her the first strand hit the floor.
She may be #shorthairdontcare now, but she has always kicked butt.
