Halle Berry's 'Extant' Salary Is Pretty Steep

by Kenya Foy

For actors, working on a TV series isn't all shiny and fancy like having a role in a big screen release, especially for a renowned Oscar-winning actress like Halle Berry. But let's just say that Berry's transition from big screen to TV with her role in the upcoming CBS sci-fi series Extant, the network has definitely made it worth her while. According to E! Online, an Entertainment Weekly article reports Halle Berry's salary is more than $100,000 an episode and she will also be credited as a co-executive producer.Even though one of those checks could more than sufficiently cover Berry's steep monthly child support payment, we shouldn't expect any less of a salary requirement coming from an actress of her caliber. Berry's role will undoubtedly bring a huge audience to CBS, and in the end, the network is likely anticipating a huge return on their investment.Berry's not the first to "downsize" her career from film to TV. She joins other film stars who've taken small screen roles like George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, Katherine Heigl, Don Cheadle, Zooey Deschanel, Charlie Sheen, and Alec Baldwin, whose success on NBC's 30 Rock earned him an Emmy in 2008.

According to Berry, agreeing to take part in Extant came partially because she felt like the movie roles she came across lacked excitement. Still, taking on this TV role may feel like a risk to Berry as well to viewers who question the move, but hopefully when the series debuts, the rewards (financial or otherwise) far outweigh any existing concerns.
