Gemma Arterton Does Bond Girl at Wimbledon

by Rosie Narasaki

Our favorite actresses from Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey have all made an appearance — even England's sartorial queen (and actual duchess) Kate Middleton even made quite the appearance Wednesday. She re-wore a white eyelet Zimmermann day dress, updated with an utterly fabulous wicker fan-shaped clutch by Anya Hindmarch, along with a matching blood orange pashmina.

Fashion lovers have also been fawning over Kim Sears, the high-profile girlfriend of Wimbledon favorite, Andy Murray — she's been supporting him courtside on the daily, trotting out ultra-chic outfit after ultra-chic outfit; even drawing comparisons to Kate Middleton in the process.

It was actress Gemma Arterton, however, who really caught my eye at the match. She looked fabulous in a LBD, paired with matching sandals and some seriously voluminous hair. Gemma, please teach me how to do a long bob hairstyle without looking like a politician's wife.

I'm no expert, but Wimbledon seems to have a pretty specific spoken/unspoken dress code — we've seen a lot of sharply-cut blazers, moneyed white cocktail dresses, and summer-appropriate-yet-prim florals — and it seems that Arterton here is pushing the envelope a little here in her low-cut, clingy black knit. She's definitely bringing some of that special Strawberry Fields Bond Girl flair to the party.

And she gets extra style brownie points for pairing it with a leather jacket:

Between this Bond Girl-esque number and her stunning red Prabal Gurung duds at yesterday's Serpentine Summer Party, it looks like Ms. Arterton is having quite the week!
