She Wants To Be More Focused on Family

by Loretta Donelan

Megan Fox recently opened up to Parents Magazine about motherhood. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star has two young sons, Noah, 21 months, and Bodhi, 4 months. Fox described herself as being more family-oriented than career-driven. "I’ve never been an extraordinarily ambitious girl or career-oriented," she says. "But especially once I got pregnant with my first son and now [having] my second, it’s so hard to be a working mom especially when your heart is not in your work, when your heart is with your family." Fox's candidness is admirable, and it's a bold statement for a high-profile actress to make.

Feminism accounts for a variety of female experiences, and motherhood is one of them. When most actresses and other women in the spotlight are expected to be very career-oriented, it's good that Fox feels that she can express her own desire to devote herself to her boys.

And she's taking her job very seriously. She says her boys don't watch TV, and she hopes that they can remain tech-free until 8th grade. However, she still feels guilty that she's not doing enough for her boys. "As a mom it’s hard because I don’t feel like I’m ever giving either one of them 100% of my attention or 100% of myself, so I carry a lot of guilt." It was brave of Fox to speak up about her feelings, but hopefully her guilt will decrease (at least a little). It seems like she's doing a pretty great job.
