VH1's 'Dating Naked' Proves Nude Is the New Black on Reality TV — VIDEO

Seems like we're gonna be seeing a lot more butts on television in the coming seasons. There's Discovery Channel's Naked and Afraid — and then there's VH1's Dating Naked . Which, yes, is exactly what it sounds like.

As The Hollywood Reporter's Lesley Goldberg points out, Dating Naked "marks the latest push into the naked unscripted space," which is a sentence I didn't think I'd ever read but am very glad that I did. Because it's true: Selectively blurred nudity is all the rage on basic cable these days.

Dating Naked's contestants seem to consist of people who have tired of the OKCupids and the Tindrs so thoroughly that the only thing left is to become a full-on nudist for a national audience while you woo another person. It really makes me think: What other regularly televised activities can we heighten with nudity? In case there are any reality TV producers reading this, here are some suggestions:

  • Singing Naked, which is essentially a regular singing competition but everyone's naked in a drafty auditorium.
  • Baking Naked, in which a very brave (and naked) host teaches America how to sanitarily cook while in the nude.
  • Jiggle It, a dance show in the vein of So You Think You Can Dance, but everyone's naked all the time.
  • Jiggle With the Stars, a spinoff of Jiggle It, in which C-list celebrities and/or people who were in the news that one time compete in ballroom dancing while naked.

This trend really does have a lot of potential.
