Bravo's Scripted 'Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce' Trailer Actually Looks Kind of Awesome — VIDEO
So we didn't know this was even possible, but Bravo is gearing up to debut its first original scripted TV show. And although we didn't think that the network that has brought us all of our favorite Real Housewives could air something that's not a reality show, the first trailer for Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (thanks to Entertainment Weekly) proves otherwise. (Believe us — we're as shocked as you probably are.)
Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce, which is inspired by Vicki Lovine's Girlfriends' Guide series of books, follows Abby (House's Lisa Edelstein), a self-help book author whose fans find out she's basically a liar. Turns out that the woman who's been giving them advice about their marriage and family is actually going through an extremely messy divorce. Well, we guess this isn't too far off from a reality-show storyline.
According to a press release from Bravo, after inadvertently publicly admitting that she's separating from her husband, Jake (Private Practice's Paul Adelstein) America's once-favorite girlfriend finds her career and marriage in a free fall. In her time of need, Abby turns to, surprise, other divorcees: Lyla (Janeane Garofalo), a "legendary no-nonsense entertainment lawyer" and Phoebe (Beau Garrett), a "former model and budding entrepreneur who has a very unique relationship with her ex." (We want to know about this "unique" relationship!). Plus, Laverne Cox is totally guest starring in the dramedy as Adele Northrop, a Pulitzer-Prize winning war journalist and LGBT activist. So, duh, we're into this.
Drama. Hot sex. Crying. One-liners. Who knew scripted would look so good on Bravo?
Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce is set to premiere on Bravo on Tuesday, December 2 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
