These Magicians Were on a Classic '90s Teen Show
"These tricks that I'll attempt will blow your mind. Pick a verse, any verse, I'll hypnotise you every line. I'll need a volunteer, how about you, with the eyes? Come on down to the front, and stand right here and don't be shy." Okay, so, Penn and Teller aren't responsible for those B.O.B. lyrics — or one of the best musical numbers in Pitch Perfect — but they do know a thing or two about magic. In fact, they probably know the most about magic ever because, well, they're famous illusionists.
Penn and Teller, also known as Penn Jillette and Teller — the latter legally changed his full-name to just "Teller" — are a comedy-magic duo that get their laughs through tricks. The pair has been working together for approximately 40 years, and in that time they've conquered the Las Vegas Strip, won multiple Emmys, appeared on Broadway, and have even been answers on Jeopardy and The New York Times Crossword Puzzle, so, yeah, they're a big deal. Their next feat? Moving their UK TV show Penn & Teller: Fool Us across the pond to The CW. The show will feature aspiring magicians who will perform in front of the magical duo in the hopes of stumping them and earning a slot in their infamous show at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
So now you know what Penn & Teller are known for, but do you know where you've seen or heard about them before? Check out some of their many achievements.
Penn guest-starred on Friends
A-doh, that's where you know him from. He most definitely played that salesman who sold Joey an encyclopedia.
They both had recurring roles in Sabrina, The Teenage Witch
Um, remember a not-so-little character named Drell? (Teller played a character named Skippy that wore a top hat and sat next to Drell.)
Penn has basically been on every reality show ever
He's been in everything from Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off to The Apprentice to Dancing with the Stars.
They co-starred in Katy Perry's music video for "Waking Up in Vegas"
It should probably be mandatory to include Penn and Teller in anything Vegas related.
They had a Showtime series called Penn & Teller: Bullshit!
The documentary TV series basically had a mission to call bullshit on whatever they could. Debunking was the name of the game.
They made a BAFTA-nominated documentary together
It's called Tim's Vermeer, and it follows Texas-based inventor Tim Jenison on his search to understand the painting methods of Johannes Vermeer.
They received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2013
Icing on the cake.
