Katie Keeps It Super Classy When Talking About Tom

by Nicole Fabian-Weber

That Katie Holmes, I tell ya. She's a crafty one. Throughout her entire marriage to Tom Cruise, she managed to stay mum on, well, the complete and total weirdness of everything. And since her divorce from Tom Cruise, she's managed to stay mum on, well, the complete and total weirdness of everything. Until now, that is. Holmes appeared on the Today show on Wednesday for a sit-down with Matt Lauer, and when the often-obnoxious reporter asked the actress, in a round-about way, if she regret her marriage to Cruise, she gave the greatest answer/non-answer ever.

Lauer said, "For several years, you were a very hardworking actress who became uber-famous for other reasons completely. Do you ever think you would make a deal and trade some of that fame to go back to that person you were beforehand?" Katie's response? "You know what? I never really look back. I just approach life [taking] it one day at a time. I'm really excited about where I am right now. I've had some really wonderful creative experiences. I'm just really grateful."

Boom! In your face, World! Holmes said everything and nothing all at once. That's damn impressive.

There's no way Katie didn't have a response for Lauer's inevitable question prepared (likely vetted by a PR person), but man, that's one of the best non-answers of all time. Being that she didn't do the typical celeb thing and gush over how amazing Tom is and what a great father he is to Suri, Katie clearly soooo regrets her marriage (and, I mean, come on, it was weird). But instead of bashing her ex, she took the elusive-answer high road and wound up walking away looking like pure class. I curtsy to you, Katie.
