Bottles of Ramona brand Pinot grigio can't fix everything, I guess. Real Housewives of New York star Ramona Singer has split from her husband Mario Singer, and rather surprisingly, she announced the news herself. For months now, Mario has been rumored to be cheating, and whether or not the stories were true, it seems the couple at least had some sort of issues they weren't able to move past. Ramona has much of her life documented for RHONY, but for the news of her split, she didn't wait for the status of her marriage to air on TV. On Thursday, Ramona wrote on Twitter, "I have decided to move on with my life without Mario. I tried my best to make my marriage work. I am excited for the new chapter in my life."
Ramona's message is very straightforward and clear, and is a smart move considering the amount of tabloid coverage her marriage has gotten recently. As far back as last fall rumors about Mario and Ramona's marriage came out. In October 2013, it was alleged that Mario cheated on Ramona with a 20-year-old who he got pregnant, and then paid for her abortion. Ramona herself claimed that this story wasn't true. But in January, Ramona and Mario separated. This didn't seem to last though as the couple continued to be seen together and appeared happy. In March, Ramona appeared on former Real Housewife Bethenny Frankel's talk show and said, "I know my husband loves me, he knows that I love him, and we will see what happens. Nothing is written in stone. Life is an evolution." Still, the reports of Mario's unfaithfulness continued. Even as recently as Wednesday it was alleged that Mario was seeing other women.
Now, it seems that her evolution means a permanent split from Mario. Ramona told Us Weekly, "I am doing what is right for me and my daughter Avery, who is the most important person in the world to me. But I am feeling great."
As I see it, Ramona will be just fine without Mario. She's a strong (albeit, um... eccentric) woman. Plus, now she can have Turtle Time and single ladies nights with Sonja Morgan whenever she wants.
