9 Better Reasons Ginger Left the Spice Girls

by Caitlyn Callegari

There are some tragic events that occur in one's short life that alter it forever. An occurrence so paramount to how our psyche is transformed, that we can remember the minute details of when it happened — what you were wearing, what you were doing, and where you were. It doesn't matter how much time has lapsed since the event took place because it's a permanent blemish on your memory and your soul. So forgive me and heed the trigger warning as I drudge up an old and not quite healed wound for you all. Well, really, we can blame the reopening of the wound on Mel B and that tricky Andy Cohen.

What I'm referring to, of course, is when Geri Halliwell, aka Ginger Spice, left the Spice Girls. Mel "Scary Spice" Brown revealed her reasoning on why Ginger left the group on Watch What Happens Live, and it left something to be desired. "I don’t think she could take the pressure," was Mel B.'s answer to the decades long question. Really? She couldn't handle the pressure? THAT was the best you could come up with?! No one can handle the pressure! Next rumination, please.

Considering my unhappiness with Scary's PC conclusion, I've come up with a few reasons of my own.

1. SHE CARRIED THAT GROUP ON HER WELL MANICURED BACK AND FRANKLY, WAS SICK AND TIRED OF IT

I mean, did she have to do EVERYTHING?!

2. SHE HAD TO DEAL WITH POSH'S RANK ATTITUDE

Girl can dress, but she can also be generally unpleasant.

3. BABY SPICE'S ALL AROUND NAIVETY BORDERING ON IGNORANCE

WELCOME TO THE WORLD, BABY.

4. RUMORS OF A CHUPA CHUPS LOLLIPOP SHORTAGE

Surely, that would make just about anybody go mad.

5. THINGS LIKE THIS

I just simply don't understand and maybe she didn't either.

6. OR THIS

Posh almost got them all KILLED.

7. HER FEROCITY WENT UNAPPRECIATED

She was always forced to be the bad guy.

8. MAYBE THE GIRL JUST NEEDED TO UNWIND A LITTLE

Being fabulous is hard work.

9. NOT EVERYONE CAN HANDLE A GINGER WHO PROUDLY MATCHES HER LEATHER DRESS TO HER FIERY MANE

And she didn't need that kind of negativity in her life.

Yep, I'd say all of those are more reasonable than not being able to "take the pressure." Try one of these next time, Scary Spice.
