Terrible News for Danity Kane Fans

Welp, if you had bets on the Danity Kane gals going their separate ways after reports of that violent recording studio fight between band members Aubrey O'Day and Dawn Richard surfaced earlier this week, you're in luck: According to TMZ, Danity Kane has confirmed they are splitting up. The band has been, dare I say it...damaged.

I went there.

If you haven't kept up with all the latest in the world of Danity Kane, here are the deets: Apparently, the gals were at a recording session in a studio to work on their first album back together as a band, and member Dawn Richard "sucker punched" Aubrey O'Day. This led to many fans wondering if the band would still complete their long-awaited new album, and sadly, it seems that their fears were right. Band members have already confirmed the split on social media, so, y'know, it's totally official.

"More importantly, it spits on the hard work of all those who have supported us along this journey. Sadness does not even remotely begin to describe what I feel right now," O'Day said in the band's official statement on their website. Band member Sharon Bex, who reportedly tried to break up the fight, also commented in a personal statement, "After this last year of trying to make this next chapter a success, I am devastated to admit that my expectations were set too high. I now must walk away feeling used and manipulated in addition to the name Danity Kane."

As far as Richard's side goes, she didn't leave any personal statement on the Danity Kane website, but she did tweet out the following:

Yikes.

OK, so time to theorize just a little: I know all signs point to them probably really breaking up, but it's worth considering that this could be some sort of publicity stunt to get the band even more attention right before they're set to release new material. It would be a low publicity stunt, to play with the emotions of their fans in such a way, but still — it would make their new record sell a lot more if they miraculously got back together, or just released it anyway.

Of course, that's just a theory, and might not be the case. If the band really has broken up though...RIP Danity Kane. We'll never forget the lyrics to "Damaged," mostly because they're really easy to remember.
