Damn, Taystee! Orange Is The New Black's Danielle Brooks posted a video of her and Jeremy Pope covering "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls, and it's every bit as ear-gasm inducing as you'd expect it to be. Brooks posted a tiny clip of the video on her Instagram, along with the caption, "Happy Monday folks! Go check out the full vid of this cover of the Goo Goo Dolls with the talented homie @jeremypope. Have a musical week!" before directing her followers to the YouTube video. Happy Monday, indeed! If you're wondering if the video is good, the answer is yes. It's very, very good. Duh. If you were wondering if you really needed to hear a cover of the most overplayed song in 1998, the answer is another resounding yes. Brooks can saaaaang.
You might have already known that Brooks has a great voice from the few times she's sung on Orange Is The New Black. She, and the rest of the cast, are talented ladies. So talented, in fact, that I've been openly vying for a musical episode of OITNB. It would be fantastic.
Either way, if as Pope says on his YouTube page, they just were "put[ting] down the scripts and rock[ing] out to a favorite" song of theirs, so holy crap, you guys. This is Brooks and Pope just having fun. Gaaahhh, talent!!
Here's the sneak peek Brooks posted on her Instagram page:
