Iggy & Rita's "Black Widow" Performance Killed It

by Christine DiStasio

Someone put these two up on a throne ASAP, because they are everything. It should come as no surprise that Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora's "Black Widow" performance at the 2014 MTV VMAs cemented your total girl-crush on them. As if the Kill Bill inspired music video and their "Black Widow" performance at the U.K.'s Wireless Festival didn't do that already, right? Well, they were absolutely amazing and they gave us the gift that keeps on giving — the first sighting of Taylor Swift's awkward dance moves for the night.

Iggy and Rita followed up their homage to Tarantino in the "Black Widow" video with a more literal interpretation of the fact that the song is named after a spider. Their VMA performance was set in a gigantic spider web that was full of ever-twirling ballerinas — on pointe — rocking fishnet face masks. And they brought it in their sparkly, black, web-inspired matching jumpsuits (that I stopped painfully searching for to write this post).

And while I already knew they'd be amazing — apparently not everyone was prepared for the sheer perfection that is Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora performing together. Because award-winners Katy Perry and Miley Cyrus and nominee Sam Smith were totally SPEECHLESS while watching the pair take over the VMA stage. Like, full-on, jaws on the floor speechless.

I know, sometimes when magic happens, it takes you off guard. We get it, Katy and Sam. It's cool. But that's exactly what Iggy and Rita's "Black Widow" performance was — perfect, VMA magic. Unlike the aforementioned three, however, Taylor Swift was so ready for the magic and so were her dance moves.

I'm right there with you, girl. Right. There.
