E!’s Emmy Red Carpet Clutch Cam Is Absurd but Yeah, We're Curious — PHOTOS

The highest form of technology has graced the Emmy Awards red carpet on E! No, it's not the Glam Cam 360 or the Mani Cam — Giuliana Rancic has officially blown our minds with the E!'s new "Clutch Cam." Pretty much a bedazzled podium with a little metal holder, the clutch cam is a way to show off the purses of the celebrities on the red carpet. Although there's no x-ray vision with this camera, it leads to the actresses to open up about what they have in their clutches. So c'mon ladies, spill!

Taylor Schilling: Just a Cell Phone

Orange is the New Black’s Taylor Schilling was the first star to get to try out the fancy new cam. Although she looked gorgeous in her dress, her clutch was nothing fancy. And the only thing inside was her cell phone. At least Schilling ‘fessed up to the fact that she had other people holding the rest of her stuff.

Debra Messing: Contents Unknown

Debra Messing was the first ever celebrity to rock the Mani Cam, the Glam Cam 360, and the Clutch Cam … this is the definition of TV history, my friends. Messing carried a Judith Leiber clutch and said she liked it because it matched the sparkly, architectural look of her dress and she could fit everything she needed in there. But what’s in the CLUTCHHH, Messing? Apparently, we will never know.

Christina Hendricks: A Devoted Husband

Mad Men’s outstanding supporting actress in a drama series nominee Christina Hendricks walked the red carpet with her husband Geoffrey Arend. While Hendricks showed off her simple manicure in the Mani Cam, Arend got stuck with the job of placing her clutch in the Clutch Cam. Whatta sport. He topped it off with attacking his wife’s hands Gozdilla-style via the Mani Cam.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus: Stolen Goods

Displaying another metallic clutch, Veep nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfus showed us that her humor is just as good on the red carpet as it is onscreen. She described her clutch as “very heavy and it’s gold, and I adore it.” When she couldn’t remember the name of the designer, she had (presumably) an assistant to get the name (Lee Savage) for her — very reminiscent of her 2013 acceptance Emmy speech with Tony Hale. Then she wondered if her purse would get stolen off the Clutch Cam.

Sarah Silverman: Pot!

Another metallic, gold box-shaped purse, Sarah Silverman was too busy touching her boobs to care much about her clutch that was on display. But the real goods were what was inside of her purse. She let Rancic go through and unveiled an American-themed phone case, money, lipstick, a little mirror, her license, and her VAPORIZER (or as Silverman said, her “liquid pot”). Oh, Silverman, you wacky lady, you. It definitely appeared like she had been partaking of some substances before the show, but it made for the most entertaining Clutch Cam moment so far.

And with that, the Clutch Cam’s reign ended. Since there were still quite a few celebrity interviews that Rancic did, it seemed that the scandal of marijuana was too much for E! Where’s Olivia Pope to crisis manage when you need her? Oh yeah, looking like a rockstar on the red carpet.
