We Have a New Adele Dazeem On Our Hands

by Sam Rullo

You had one job, Gwen Stefani, ONE JOB. Just like John Travolta destroyed Idina Menzel's name at the Oscars, Gwen Stefani mispronounced The Colbert Report when announcing it as the winner of Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. You know what that means, we have a new Adele Dazeem — the Colebore Report. And this time, no one could... let it go (nailed it). Stefani's co-presenter, Adam Levine, leaned into the microphone and corrected her, though he was mostly drowned out. But Stefani still didn't get away with it.

Jimmy Fallon, who's own show was nominated in the same category, took to the stage because if Stefani pronounced it wrong, that means The Colbert Report didn't really win, right? That's what Fallon thought, so he stayed on stage and delivered most of Colbert's acceptance speech for him — with Colbert whispering the lines into his ear, of course. That's definitely a worse reaction than the one Travolta got. He was lucky, his flub lead into a musical performance, so no one had time to react. Stefani's lead into an acceptance speech for a comedy award. There was no way it would go by without some sort of comment. Watch the cringeworthy moment below.

Of course it wasn't just the people at the Emmys who mocked Stefani, Twitter immediately reacted as well.

Sorry, Gwen. If you need someone to talk to, I'm sure John Travolta is available.
