Why Didn't Rob Attend Kim's Wedding?

Considering Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kanye West took place all the way back in late May, it's no secret by now that her younger brother Rob Kardashian didn't attend the ceremony in Europe. But, with Keeping Up With the Kardashians currently covering the events leading up to the wedding, the question is begged: Why didn't Rob show up? Unfortunately, it seems the answer may be a pretty sad one.

Earlier this month, Kim appeared on an episode of Bravo's Watch What Happens Live! and explained (somewhat unsympathetically) why Rob initially got on a plane to Paris with mother Kris Jenner, then left before the actual wedding took place in Italy:

He sent me a long email the morning of that he was going to leave. There was no fight…I just thought, ‘You know what, this is my day, I’m not even going to worry about it.’ […] I totally understand that he wouldn’t want to see a lot of people if he was feeling uncomfortable and you can only pray and wish that someone would not miss out on more memories in life, because life is about memories.

Kim went on to say that she and Rob are "close," but that Rob's struggles with his weight and depression had caused somewhat of a rift: "I’m definitely a tough love kind of person. If I don’t like something that’s going on in my life, I change it, and I don’t sit and complain about it for a year."

It's sad to think that Rob didn't feel comfortable enough to spend such an important day of his older sister's life with her, but even worse when you look at the brisk, almost dismissive way Kim speaks about it: It's almost no wonder Rob didn't want to attend the wedding. Additionally, reports after Rob bailed had sources saying: "He is really overweight and having a hard time with it...there was no big fight between him and Kim. This was just a decision he made." It's worth nothing that Rob also skipped a family trip to Thailand for a similar reason.

Luckily, new reports are suggesting Rob may be doing better than he was back in May: According to E! Online, he's recently teamed up with sister Khloé Kardashian to work out and follow a healthy eating plan in an effort to "lose over 50 pounds." According to a source, "He hates being big, but he gained all that weight from being depressed...[now,] he's taking it slow [and] feeling great."
