She's Still Got It

by Mary Avant

I love red carpet fashion and celebrity appearances just as much as (and probably more so) than the next girl. That said, there are some Hollywood A-listers — and even more B-listers, it seems — who make so many appearances on the red carpet, you wouldn't be entirely crazy to think that they're glued there. And let's be honest: Sometimes absence really does make the heart grow fonder, as is the case for me with actress (and possible Quentin Tarantino girlfriend) Uma Thurman.

After landing on our list of the worst-dressed stars at the 2014 Oscars, Thurman was due for a major red carpet comeback, which she narrowly delivered in a number of ethereal ensembles, including a swan-like, feathered gown, at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival just two months later. Since then, however, Thurman has been lying low on the red carpet front, making hardly a single appearance to show off her legendary beauty.

Until the 2014 Venice Film Festival, that is. Following an appearance at a Chopard and Vanity Fair event during the Italian film fest on Sunday — where she sported a stunningly draped Jenny Packham dress — Thurman hit the big-league red carpet on Monday, donning a gorgeous tea-length dress at the premiere of her most recent film, Nymphomaniac: Volume 2.

Though she opted for a more demure vibe, Thurman still delivered plenty of class and sex appeal in her fit-and-flare, pleated midi-skirt number. Featuring a buttoned-up bodice, belted waist, and contrast-colored skirt, the dress was polished and elegant when paired with simple ankle-strap sandals, a gilded clutch, and a neck full of dazzling diamonds.

Finishing the look with a softly swept-back updo, smoky eye, and glossy nude lip, Thurman proved once and for all that she most definitely has not lost her red-carpet mojo. Or, at least, not altogether.
