Ain't No '00s Video Like An S Club Video

by Kristie Rohwedder

As I was driving home from Trader Joe's the other day, SiriusXM channel Pop2K surprised me with a beautiful gift: “Never Had A Dream Come True” by S Club 7. It’d been moons and moons since I’d heard any of the British pop group’s CLASSIC jams, and "Never Had A Dream Come True" hit me like a cargo ship carrying only fond memories of S Club 7 in Miami. I am happy to report that I remembered 80% of the lyrics. You could say the song managed to “Bring it All Back” to me.

The moment I walked into my apartment, I dropped my groceries on a nearby surface and grabbed my laptop. I had to watch the music video right then and there. The groceries could put themselves away, for I had serious business to attend to. (Don't worry, I eventually unpacked the groceries.)

The video is so Y2K, which is to say the video brings me endless joy. Its frosted metallic winter aesthetic reminds me of Britney Spears’ Teen People cover from Feb. 2000 and the Bonne Bell Lip Smackers Jewel Lips collection.

It is glorious.

Here are some of my favorite oh-so early aughts things that the "Never Had A Dream Come True" music video brings to the table:
