She Looked Flawless at the 'AHS' Premiere

by Erin Mayer

It's not often that Lea Michele's sartorial choices really grab my attention, but boy was her latest red carpet dress a show stopper. Lea Michele wore a crushed velvet gown to the premiere of American Horror Story: Freak Show on Monday and the whole outfit was incredible. She looked like a gorgeous early '90s television witch (that's what crushed velvet reminds everyone else of, right?), only totally modern and fab.

The Cushnie et Ochs frock that the Glee actress chose for the premiere featured a strapless, dramatically plunging neckline, gathered skirt, dramatic side-slit, and a glamorous oceanic blue that paired flawlessly with Michele's olive-y skin tone and highlighted brown hair. She wore the dress with simple metallic sandals, a box clutch, and horn-shaped drop earrings. Simple styling was definitely the way to go — the minimal accessories really allowed the dress's unique material, color, and shape to stand out.

Normally my skin begins to itch the second I lay eyes on a garment made of velvet, but somehow it just seems like the exact right fabric for this number. Before today, I firmly believed that Stevie Nicks was the only person left on this planet who could pull off crushed velvet, but apparently that is not the case. Lea Michele can pull it off too!

Get it, girl!
