Get Tom Hiddleston on 'SNL' ASAP

by Martha Sorren

One of the ultimate honors for a celebrity is being asked to host Saturday Night Live. Some stars have even had the privilege to host more than once. But one mega actor has consistently been overlooked for the prestigious spot. Seriously, Tom Hiddleston should host Saturday Night Live, and he needs to have been asked, like, yesterday. I'm kind of offended he's been passed over while people like Justin Bieber and Paris Hilton have gotten to star on their own episodes. Even Hiddleston's fellow Avengers co-stars Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson have been asked to host by NBC. But if anyone deserves to the role, it's the man who plays the mischievous Loki.

I promise I'm not just suggesting him just because his powers of dance are unbelievable and I like his face. I actually really think Hiddleston would be a smart choice for the network. It's always disappointing when Saturday Night Live gets a host who can't really act, or doesn't do well live, and thus isn't able to be worked in to very many skits. But they don't have to worry about Hiddleston. He would be a flawless live host are here are nine reasons why.

HE DOES EPIC IMPRESSIONS

My favorite Saturday Night Live skits are the ones where they parody famous people. Fortunately Hiddleston can do voices for everyone from Owen Wilson to Chris Hemsworth and many more in between. It just comes naturally to him, so they wouldn't even have to do much work with him beforehand.

BECAUSE SNL KOREA WAS MAGICAL

During the Asia leg of his Thor 2 promotional tour, Hiddleston appeared on the Korean version of Saturday Night Live and it was amazing. He danced, we laughed, and fun was had by all. If he can entertain in another language he'd be a smash hit in New York.

HE'S UP FOR ANYTHING

I learned from his stint on the Korean SNL that Hiddleston is game for whatever. One skit involved an old woman pinching Hiddles' chest to keep him from dancing too loudly in his apartment. I don't really know why this happened, but he agreed to it. I doubt anything the SNL writers throw at him could top that in terms of strange factor.

HE WANTS TO DO MORE COMEDY

Hiddleston has done a lot of action movies and dramas, but he wants to get more comedic roles and this is his perfect chance. "I've always wanted to do more comedy," Hiddleston told On the Red Carpet. "As a child, I started acting because I loved making people laugh."

Let the man make people laugh, NBC. Come on.

HE HAS CROWD APPEAL WHICH SNL NEEDS

Saturday Night Live' s numbers have been way down this season. You know who is almost guaranteed to bring them back up? One of Tumblr's most popular actors. Hiddleston's fanbase is massive and they would all tune in for the show, which would make NBC's ratings skyrocket.

HE'S GOOD AT MOCKING HIMSELF

A good SNL host is able to poke fun at themselves which Hiddleston often does already. He wouldn't be the kind of host to say no to a joke or get annoyed by something that makes fun of himself. In fact, he'd likely be the one to suggest it.

HIS OTHER SHORTS HAVE BEEN GENIUS

The actor has appeared in a few funny shorts for MTV and Comedy Central and they've all been hilarious. His "Loki'd!" bit with Josh Horowitz created a cult-like following, and his "Loki argues with kids" series was spectacular. Just imagine what else he could deliver if given the attention.

HE KNOWS HOW TO PERFORM LIVE

Trained as a stage actor, Hiddleston has already performed in front of live audiences a ton, which is important. You don't want a host who's fine in dress rehearsal but can't keep it together when a crowd is watching it live.

HE'S GAME

This idea is approved by the man himself, so now Saturday Night Live just has to come through on their end. But until I get my wish, at least we can delight in watching SNL Korea and all its quirky wonderfulness.
